Cardiff Skate Plaza

Cardiff Skate Plaza
Cardiff Skate Plaza

Cardiff Skate Plaza is just about finished now, just needs a bit of time for the concrete to set properly. I'm not sure when it's officially open but I'm guessing it will be some time this month.
There are more photos on City Surfs website.

Rotations promo video

Rotations began as project 360° in 2008 and currently exists as a duet between a BMX flatlander and B-Boy (breakdancer). It is now going into its next phase of development that will produce an outdoor performance and a dance on film.

Kompany Malakhi continue to create unique and cutting edge work with this gritty yet graceful exploration of cause and effect. Combining the extreme sport of BMX Flatland with Breakin’ (breakdancing), Parkour and Contemporary Dance, Rotations twists and turns in an intricate and elegant game of rumours and whispers. Available in either short duet or longer quartet format, it is an innovative and compelling celebration of art and sport working towards the 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

Rotations will be touring the UK and internationally from Summer 2010 leading up to the Cultural Olympiad 2012.

Some philly skatepark news

Possible layout of philly skatepark
Possible layout of philly skatepark

I have just read some news on AberdareSkatepark.com about Caerphilly skatepark getting built by the end of the year:

"An application was made to the Community Facilities and Activities Programme (part of the Welsh Assembly) in April for £200k. News on if successful or not should be received in early July.

If funded construction will go ahead ASAP (as long as Maverick aren't busy elsewhere and the money is available quickly) with completion by the October half term the target and no later than the December school holidays.

If un-successful then the Council, Youth Offending Service and St Martins Youth Project (who have all been involved so far) will resubmit in October along with looking at other ways to raise the money
." Hagwag.

I was hoping it would be done ready for the summer, but that looks highly unlikely now, but hopefully we will have a dry winter (ha like that's gonna happen) to ride it.

An update? About time you slacker!

Here's a video Miles put together of this years Chepstow Jam.

In other news Cardiff skate plaza is starting to take shape as you can see from the image below stolen from facebook. Still not sure what's up with the Caerphilly skatepark but it sounds like they are still after money to get it built.

We're back online

We had a pretty big problem with the server the site is hosted on which caused pretty much everything to be wiped and lost forever. Luckilly I do backups regulary (well sometimes) and have managed to get most of the site back online. There are still some bits missing which should be put back on the site this week, but unfotuanatly some things will never be seen again. Ah well, shit happens.

Sorry if you have lost anything off the site that you uploaded.

We should be back to normal in a fews days.

Chepstow BMX Jam 2010

Some more info and a new flyer from http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=344121748169

Chepstow BMX Jam

It's the 4th year of the BMX jam at Chepstow Bowl and it's gonna be sick!

5 days until the jam!

I know your so excited you could crap your pants so here are some up-to-date deets!

First off I'd like to say thanks to Forest BMX, Crucial BMX and Freestyle skatestore for hooking us up with prizes!!

www.crucialbmxshop.com
www.freestyleskatestore.com
www.forestbmx.co.uk

CHECK THE NEW FLYER OUT!!!

Miles has constructed some awesome trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd (you'll have to wait to see them on the day!!)

Forest BMX are sorting the wallride we had last year which is dope, but if you have any wood/pallets etc. to bring down THEN DO IT and we can build some really weird stuff to spice up the park with.

If you can't read the info. the jam is on the 8TH OF MAY so make sure you can make it down!!

The format is an all day jam, no timed runs just an all day any man shredfest. There will be 4 judges keeping an eye out for bangers all day and whoever gets the gnarliest shit down gets the winnings. Simple

There is definately going to be a prize for anyone who pulls the Crazy Dean Gap... seen here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOj1KdlUnMc

Afterparty kind of fell through due to venue's not being available, but there will be a massive piss up somewhere or other if you're not too broken.

See you all next Saturday!!

Baz
